Gareth Lay MRICS FAAV
Gareth has a wealth of experience in Property Valuations, Land Access Rights and Landlord and Tenant matters.
Prior to setting up Atchams he spent 17 years at Bruton Knowles, working across the UK for a range of private landowning clients, local authority and utilities. During his time at the national property consultants, Gareth worked to deliver advice on significant utility infrastructure projects (Rail, Water, Nuclear, Electricity, Roads and Gas); private client property advice, to include Expert Witness; Renewable Energy Developments for both private investors and developers; and, strategic advice to Local Authorities on management and structure of their assets. He has undertaken valuations for a vast number of banks and financial institutions.
From a farming background, Gareth provides technical advice to all types of property owners and their professional advisors, regardless of scale, and is recognised for his personal approach to problem solving.
Career highlights include portfolio valuations of wind turbines in Northern Ireland and during his career, he has undertaken valuations of over one billion pounds of rural property.
Gareth was awarded the Royal Agricultural Society for England (RASE) award for the highest placed candidate in the CAAV Agricultural Valuer Examinations. He is a CAAV Examiner. He is a sessional lecturer at Harper Adams University and is a contributor to the BBC and national press.
In his spare time, he takes part in Triathlons, Field Sports and is a Motorsport Licence Holder, competing across the UK.
